1890's Split Seconds Rattrapante Chronograph .900 Coin Silver Pocket Watch

This is a very nice c. late 1890's to early 1900's Swiss Split Seconds Rattrapante Chronograph Pocket watch in .900 coin silver with gold accents. There is no maker name on the dial or movement. we think it is a CL Guinand. This watch has been fully cleaned and oiled, it keeps reasonable time and the chronograph and split seconds functions work. From what our research indicates, this watch with no name on the dial or movement was probably made by CL Guinand. It is only engraved with the serial number 34408 on the movement under the dial Swiss, and Depose. The inner case back and cuvette repeat the same serial number and .900 and the rampant bear hallmark for Switzerland. The pictures have been taken from every angle and represent the watch well-- in fact they are 3x magnified. The .900 coin silver case only has a couple very minor dents, and the hinges are all strong and functional. Never personalized, still sharp on the details. The case measures 51.5mm (excluding crown and pushers). The dial is attractive with hairlines at 11:00, 3:00 and a chip at 4:00. Having serviced the watch, we can say: 1. The top-most seconds hand is not original to the watch, though the rest of the hands may be. 2. The watch has been serviced many times over the years, always by competent watchmakers (no chewed up screws) it has been serviced so many times that there is no Rhodium left of the movement. 3. The watch keeps reasonable time with the chronograph engaged or otherwise. It has been photographed without the crystal. A new crystal will be installed before shipping.
