Description: This is coin is one of the “henning nickels” in the morgan dollar series. It is a CONTEMPORARY counterfeit coin, which means it holds a significant value because of its story. This coin is registered under VAMWORLD as an official VAM, but PCGS and NGC do not recognize it and will not holder it anymore. However, ANACS still attributes the variety, and it holds a premium over other 1900-Os. Note that because the coin’s dies were not properly made, the strike appears to be significantly more worn than it is on the hair and wings. The luster of the coin, even though it is still silver, is not the same as a normal coin. While this coin appears to be worn to ~VF/XF, the luster and strength/visibility of the die markers show that this coin is in AU CONDITION. For those familiar with this variety, it is well known that these coins are incredibly rare, almost unheard of in higher grades and premiums are correspondingly sizable. A 1900-O micro O VAM 5 (the most well known contemporary counterfeit) in high VF sold for $2600+, and prices for a mid VF example are consistently around $300. A 1900-O VAM 22C2 in mid VF (the sister variety for this coin) sold for $375. My pricing is based proportionally to these comps, and is then reduced significantly to give collectors an opportunity to own something unheard of. Happy Hunting!
