Description: ARTIST: Herman Funch is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions multiple times and who was an exhibitor at the famous Charlottenborg. Funch was a student of HW Bissen, a famous Danish Golden Age sculptor, and started out both painting and sculpting, but from 1879 onwards, he dedicated his career to painting. He specialized in animal portraits, but also painted landscapes and houses. PAINTING: Oil on board. This small painting is an attractive rendering of an area of open grassland with scattered trees. In the foreground is a small pond with cattails. It is dated to 1895. Signed: “HFunch” in the lower right corner. SIZE: With frame: 42,5 cm/16.7" * 33 cm/13". Without frame: 29 cm/11.4" * 19,5 cm/7.7". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has scratches and stains.
