Description: Very solid, but well used Cairns leather fire helmet, dating from approximately 1920. Helmet is from Rochester, NY for Protectives 1 which was the name of the Fire Patrol / Insurance Patrol as it was known in other cities. Helmet is missing the liner, is a "working weight" or heavy weight helmet, but has no areas of dry rot, holes or other weaknesses. Size is unknown, this is a collectible.
