Description: This is a pre-Griswold No 7 cast iron skillet in fully restored condition. This is a 6th series skillet that was manufactured between 1905-1907. The bottom surface has does have sulfur damage. The cooking surface is in great condition with a few pin size pits, light utensil scores and fine patches of etching from corrosion. These are undetectable as you glide your fingers over a very smooth surface. Maybe not a collector's grade skillet, but it a great skillet for a daily user. Four sheets of printer paper slipped under one side of the pan stops movement on a polished granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin.Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until pot stops moving. This item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal of all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. The item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hour. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, items may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
