Description: This is a beautiful single-v military issued sweatshirt from sometime between the late 1940s and the early 1950s. The sweatshirt unfortunately lacks a tag, but does have some very faint evidence of stamps on the chest and hem, seeming to be the name of the original owner. It has confusing measurements, but should fit somewhere in the range of a modern size small, to about a size medium, depending on how you wish to wear it. Please check the measurements below before purchasing, and feel free to reach out with any questions. This sweatshirt comes from the estate of a WWII and Korean War veteran, who served in the United States Marine Corps from 1944-onwards, and in stayed in the reserve until the start of the Korean war. This sweatshirt is likely military in origin, at least pertaining to its usage, with very faint name stamps on the left side of the chest, and on the inside of the hem. The stamped name (if that is what it is) seems to match the name stamps in format, size, and perhaps font, of other military issued items found in the same estate. That being said, the stamps are very faint, and there's no other information available. This sweatshirt was very well-used, and is in infinitely better condition than when it was first uncovered. There is likely still refurbishment and cleaning that could be done to have this garment looking as good as new. The sweatshirt is a grey heathered color, with contrasting lighter stitching throughout. Note: Other items from the same estate are available on my eBay seller's page. The sizing and proportion of this sweatshirt is by no means normal, or comparable to a modern garment. The shoulders are over-wide to make up for very short sleeves, and the sweatshirt tapers in a lot from the chest to the hem, in an attempt to stay fitted. The sweatshirt is also overly cropped by today's standard. If you would seek to wear this sweatshirt, I would pay most attention to the length of piece, and go from there. The sweat shirt will likely fit very loose around the chest, with a significant drop-shoulder. Measurements:Chest (pit-to-pit): 22 in Shoulders: 20 in Hem: 18.5 in Length: 22 in Sleeve Length: 18 in Great vintage condition. Some slight staining and yellowing throughout, with three small holes (~1mm diameter) on the right side of the chest. A few more pinholes, and slight distressing to the collar and hem. The fabric is somewhat thinning from normal wash and wear, and the fleece material on the inside of the sweatshirt is somewhat compressed. See photos for more details. Sold AS-IS. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to request more photos. Thanks!
