Please Read Full Description Before Bidding Up for sale is this delightful Mint Booklet with a pane of Fifteen (15) stamps, Scott US #BK272, containing the thirty-two cent (32¢) Tropical Birds issue of 1998. This booklet has a Type III booklet cover. Background: This is an instance of the USPS being the “good guys.” From 1995 to 1999, the USPS contracted with Minnesota Diversified Industries (MDI) to produce these “makeshift” vending booklets. MDI is a non-profit dedicated to education, training, and providing job opportunities for people with disabilities. The USPS would provide MDI with specially printed booklet covers, and bundles of normal current sheet stamps. MDI employees would break the sheets into blocks of the required number, fold the blocks to fit the booklets, and attach the stamps with a spot of glue. The specially printed booklet covers for these issues are nicknamed “Blues.” Current Scott Catalogue retail value for this BK272 is $11.00. Condition: Sound in all Respects. This booklet has been unsealed, and the stamps unfolded. The stamps are Mint, Original Gum, Never Hinged (OG/MNH). Centering is Extremely Fine (XF). The colors are bright and rich, the impressions crisp and clear. Please see scans above. A desirable and eye-catching booklet pane, with a great backstory and nice topical content.
